I am struck by how we get stuck in our stories when it's just us and our same old boring stories over and over and over again, beaten to death in our minds, on and off the page, especially as we revise, and how a different mirror—those we read to who reflect back something entirely different than what we see—is so crucial to see our stories as the gifts that they are so that we might be more generous in our sharing, perhaps never knowing how far our words will travel and who they will open.
